Tο Πρόγραμμα Μεταπτυχιακών Σπουδών (ΠΜΣ) «Αγγλική Γλώσσα, Γλωσσολογία και Μετάφραση» του Τμήματος Αγγλικής Γλώσσας και Φιλολογίας, σε συνεργασία με το Διατμηματικό Πρόγραμμα Μεταπτυχιακών Σπουδών (ΔΠΜΣ) «Μετάφραση: Ελληνική, Αγγλική, Ρωσική», διοργανώνει τη σειρά διαλέξεων «Σεμινάρια του ΠΜΣ/ΔΠΜΣ» σχετικά με θεματικές που αφορούν τη γλώσσα, τη γλωσσολογία και τη μετάφραση.
Η επόμενη διάλεξη για το χειμερινό εξάμηνο θα πραγματοποιηθεί την Τετάρτη, 5 Νοεμβρίου στις 12 μμ στην Αίθουσα 209 της Φιλοσοφικής Σχολής. Θα ακολουθήσει κέρασμα.

"The tragedy of language and emotion: Insights from developmental and brain studies"
A growing body of research has recently shown that the interactions between emotion and language are closer than initially thought and even go beyond the image we had of language as a mere vehicle for transmitting emotional messages. The results of several studies suggest that this interaction emerges at an early age, during the acquisition and development of vocabulary. Furthermore, children show an advantage for the processing of words conceptually related to positive emotions compared to those that express concepts associated with negative or neutral emotions. This differential processing continues until adulthood, in which several studies using behavioral and neurobiological measures have revealed the existence of a mutual influence between emotional features and different morphological, phonological and lexical-semantic characteristics of words.
